Alignment
In any business it is important for all the team members to know what their role is and how they are contributing to helping the company meet its goals.
At ROJO we feel it is important for all of our team members to know how their everyday work is helping to send meals to children in need.

Fear and Criticism
We will be officially launching the ROJO Ink website today. Putting your work out there for others to criticize can be scary but gets easier with practice. Every spectator thinks they can do a better job than the coach on the field. It is easy and safe to criticize as a spectator but spectators don’t get anything done. Start something. Once you get over the fear that your work will be...

We work for a [company] that is doing great things in the world, one that’s attacking daunting problems in a powerful new way. I believe in what we do, andthink that we may be catalyzing a shift in how the world fights poverty. Look around you at great leaders who you know or respect. What do they spend theirtime doing? They are infused with drive, passion, vision, commitment, and energy....

A New Chapter
We hope to announce some exciting new developments that have been in the works for some time now. They will represent some big steps for our young company. The early years of any company are fragile but at the same time calculated risks must be taken.

The most important question
No worthwhile endeavor is without its trials, setbacks and disappointments. The difference between those who persevere and those who give up is their answer to the question “Why?” Why have they chosen to undertake the endeavor? I believe a strong enough “why” can overcome any “how.”
Why > How
The fact that thousands of children die everyday simply because they do not have enough to eat and that...

Poverty is not the result of people lacking great potential, it is the lack of fertile ground from which that great potential can spring forth.

Always assume you have permission to do something great, especially when it will benefit others. Don’t wait for permission. Go. Start now.

Creating a new product line
Creating a product line for the first time is like piecing together a complex puzzle. There are no right or wrong answers only solutions that work better than others. We hope to soon produce an eco-friendly line to be sold in stores. These will be all organic, made in the USA using eco-friendly inks, they will have our tag on the neck as well as a drop tag, and the garment itself is perfect for...

Advertising and Meaningless Metrics
Social media has been a great tool to help us organize and inform our small “tribe” of poverty continuous consumer. However, we try and not over emphasize the number of likes, followers or site hits and focus on really engaging our following.
Our advertising takes the form of providing a great product with a story behind it. We give people something they are excited to tell others about. -Jose

Year One: Building trust
In this early life cycle of our business, building customer trust is critical. We try and treat every customer as if they were our only one. The ROJO moment will never be the result of a mass marketing campaign, but rather, individuals who are excited to tell others about the movement. If we can excite and earn the trust of our first customers, they become for us marketers of the brand. These...

Day 6 of the ROJO fast
Mind over hunger! I’m feeling surprisingly good. I had never gone six hours without eating much less six days. It has always been an ongoing joke about how much I eat in a day. It is not unusual for me to put away > 4,000 calories in a day which is why I was worried about going on a 7 day fast. Because we are still consuming about 275 calories from solid food our digestive systems have...
Feeling pretty sick today. It’s starting to wear on me. I will prevail though!

Our hunger in prospective
Day 4 of the fast: On a scale of 1-10,… we are hungry. But seriously, our hunger will only be temporary and we have the luxury of looking forward to some great meals next week. That is a luxury not afforded to the poor. -Jose
Day three of the fast is starting to get to my psyche. Not so much the hunger but the same small meal over and over again. It’s a little frustrating.

Hitting our stride
Day 3 of the fast and we are a bunch of hungry little rojitos but the support has been incredible. You all are amazing, thank you so much! -Jose
Day 2
Team ROJO is on day 2 of our little hunger fast and we are thankful for all the support we have been getting! This is just a small way for us to put ourselves in the shoes of the people we are trying to help. Not eating and being hungry is a daily reality for over a billion people! -Jose
